It is important that course reps’ expectations of the role are clarified so that they are sure of what the role entails and what they will be expected to do, as well as those of others involved is assisting with representation, such as the union and the institution and the support that they will provide.

This helps reps to feel as though they have clear support in their work, and that the role is recognised within the union and institution.
