NUS Charity Trustees

The Trustees of NUS Charity are:

Gary Hughes (Vice-Chair)

Gary is an Independent Trustee of NUS Charity, appointed by the trustees. Gary has Chief Executiveat Durham Students' Union since 2016. He spent many years working in policy and democracy roles in students’ unions across the country, mostly in modern Universities, before becoming a senior manager.

Paul Chapman

Paul is a member director of NUS UK and as part of this role serves as a Trustee of NUS Charity. He is CEO of Liverpool John Moores University Students’ Union. After being a sports officer and then President at Staffordshire University Students’ Union, Paul worked in several unions in the West Midlands before moving back north in 2015. Working in seven different institutions, as well as being a trustee at Bolton SU and sitting on several sector advisory groups, Paul has a wealth of knowledge in understanding the breadth of the SU movement. He is particularly passionate about student engagement in learning and teaching, partnerships between staff and students and sees SUs as an integral part of the learning community as well as major influencers on change in wider society.

Heather Innes

Heather is a student elected member of the NUS UK board, serving also on the NUS Charity Board

Noah Katz

Noah is a student elected member of the NUS UK board, serving also on the NUS Charity Board

Sarah Kerton

Sarah is a member director of NUS UK and as part of this role serves as a Trustee of NUS Charity. She is the director of the Guild of Students at University College Birmingham. In her spare time she plays bass for Ajah and supports West Bromwich Albion football club. 

Abby Wilson

Abby is an Independent Trustee of NUS Charity, appointed by the trustees. A passionate supporter of the transformative power of higher education, she has over 20 years’ experience both as a fundraiser (currently Head of Fundraising at City, University of London) and as a trustee. Abby was President of King’s College London Students Union immediately following herfirst undergraduate degree in Law (she also have a BSc in Psychology from the Open University, undertaken whilst working full time). Her previous trustee roles were at a small sports and community center in London and from 2010-2021 at Coin Street Centre Trust, part of the Coin Street Community 

Graeme Kirkpatrick

Graeme is an Independent Trustee of NUS Charity, appointed by the trustees.He is CEO of Aberdeen University Students' Association.
