Quality Students’ Union (QSU) is a framework to help students' unions achieve their full potential. It helps us collect and share good practice in the movement, turning this into useful advice, guidance and tools for unions to help our members be the best they can be.

QSU consists of two parts. Part A is a framework to help unions ensure they’re compliant with their statutory obligations. Part B is a framework to help unions work to best practice – recognising where they are and helping them see how they can improve. Students’ unions using the framework can gain accreditation – getting verified to demonstrate their performance and enabling them to use the Quality Students’ Union branding (Part B).

The QSU framework has been designed to be undertaken every three years to support regular reflection and celebration of your union’s practice. NUS Charity will revise the framework every three years to ensure it’s up-to-date, fit-for-purpose and reflective of best practice across the student movement.

The QSU framework is a free resource for all members, we want all SUs to be able to use it and explore what to be a Quality Students’ Union means. We understand that not every SU is the same, and their development journey will be unique to each one. The QSU framework is adaptable and with the help of the QSU team and the external verifiers (for Part B) we can help your SU with guidance and recommendation to improve and develop into a Quality Students’ Union.
