Start 2017 feeling inspired and gaining key skills for your leadership development by attending the NUS Women in Leadership Conference. This conference is NUS’ biggest event for women in the student movement and is part of our work to support women’s leadership.
NUS recognises that there is a lack of women leaders throughout society and the need to address this gender disparity in leadership roles continues to have urgency. For instance, although women are overrepresented in the student movement itself, when it comes to positions of power and steering the movement, women fair less, especially women from liberation backgrounds.
Our Women in Leadership Conference is part of our wider work to address gender inequality in the movement. The overarching aim of the conference is to provide a safe and inclusive space for delegates to explore the impact of sexism on women’s leadership and provide leadership tools to women officers and staff to enable them to reach their full leadership potential.

Keynote Speaker Ruth Hunt
Ruth Hunt is the Chief Executive of Stonewall. She has successfully led the development of the Stonewall’s ground breaking policy, campaigns and research outputs and has spearheaded Stonewall’s commitment to campaign for trans equality.
In addition to working at the Equality Challenge Unit Ruth was elected President of Oxford Student Union.
