REGIONAL NETWORKS – Building Stronger Active Unions
Our movement's strength lies in the collective voice, ideas, and actions of its 7 million students. In the face of drastic reforms, cuts and privatisations proposed by the government in both FE and HE, we need –more than ever– to come together, strategise and plan our response.
Therefore, NUS is organising termly events where officers and students from different institutions in the same region can come together to share experiences and best practice, discuss local and national issues and coordinate action.
The events will facilitate stronger communication and collaboration between officers and students, from universities and colleges across each city and region. They will strengthen collaboration and joint initiatives on campaigns and projects, from opposing education reforms to anti-deportation campaigns.
Sessions include:
· Students' unions, activism and regional networks
· Minds versus Markets: Mental health and education funding
· The future of FE – understanding area reviews and challenges ahead
· Organising effective anti-deportation networks/campaigns
· It Stops Here - Tackling sexism and sexual violence on campus
· How can we organise in our communities?
· Quality Doesn’t Grow on Fees: campaigning against Teaching Excellence Framework, HE Bill and pushing for our vision
· #Nov19: Know your rights demo briefing
· Organising to challenge Prevent – roundtable discussion
· Decolonising our education – tackling the attainment gap
· Challenging Prevent – a roundtable discussion
· Liberation caucuses
